“Jason, can you come into work today. Mike called in sick .”
I then responded
“Sure I can work today”
I didn’t really want to work today, but agreed anyway. When I got there I noticed that there was no one there except for my two coworkers, Jill and Henry. I checked with Bert, and he told me to set up the salad bar. While I was doing this two customers walked in, a white guy, and a black guy. They started ordering , and one of them ordered the salad …show more content…
My heart was racing. The robbers opened the pantry doors with their guns pointed at us. They shoved Bert on the ground, and tied him to us. They the white robber kicked henry, and slammed the pantry door. I heard the door click as they locked it behind them. They left and It was quiet, and we all just sat there. We didn’t hear a sound. I could hear Bert, Henry, and Jill breathing. I’d never realized how loud people breathed. I started counting the buns, the hamburger buns on the shelves. Next to the ketchup and mustard and stuff there were these huge packages of buns. We waited like that for what seemed like hours. Just listening and breathing. I wondered what everyone else was thinking about. All I was doing was counting hamburger buns. Finally Bert …show more content…
The pantry door opened, and we looked up and saw this lady. She helped untie Bert, and then she just left, without helping the rest of us. It was really weird that she just left, but no one else seemed to notice. They were all just happy to have made it through this ordeal unscathed. We called the police to inform them of the robbery. The arrived in a squad car a little later. I had just want to go home, but they insisted that they would need a statement, and a description of the robbers from all of us. They took down our names, and told us that if they caught the suspects we would need to go downtown to see if we could identify them. I wanted them to catch the robbers, but I had to admit that the idea of me Jason Kovak having to be a person to point out a vicious criminal from a lineup--would not be my idea of a fun time. It was weird saying goodbye to Jill and Henry at the bus stop. Henry wanted us to all march down to McDonalds, and apply for jobs because they had a better security system, and it would be safer to work there, but all me and Jill want to do was go home. It wasn’t one of his better ideas, but I knew how he felt. We had started saying goodbye, but we just kept hanging around. We kept talking about the robbery. We talked about it over and over, about how scared we were and thinking that we could have been killed. We told some jokes too, but none of us wanted to leave. War
