Personal Narrative: A Fun Sport To Play Softball

Improved Essays
Softball is a very fun sport to play. I have played softball my whole life. I have learned a lot over the years and I have practiced and played many times. I currently play for the Ardmore school team and a travel ball team. Softball has brought me out of my shy stages and brought me to life. First, a softball field is shaped like a diamond, and there is an infield and a outfield. When playing outfield you are on grass and while playing infield you are on dirt. On the field there are four bases, first base, which is towards the right, second base, which is in the middle, third base, which is to the left, and home plate which is at the bottom and is vertical to second base. When you play softball there is offense and defense just like every …show more content…
In this case you will have to decide how to try to get an out. While when hitting you stand in front of the catcher in a batter's box. Also when hitting, a pitcher is pitching to you. To even try to get on first base you have to hit the ball. If the pitcher hits you, you get to go to first. If the pitcher throws three good pitches that the umpire calls “strikes” and you don't it them, then you are out. If the pitcher throws four bad pitches that the umpire calls “balls” before you hit the ball then you get to go to first. Softball is just a fun thinking game. Base running is very fun to me because you can steal bases. What that means is when the pitcher lets go of the ball you can go to the next base if you want, but if the catcher gets the ball and throws it to the person at the base you are running to and they get the ball and tag you then you are out. Sliding can help you try to be “safe” because you can try to get under the person trying to tag you. Baserunning and hitting scores runs. When a person gets to home plate safely then you score a point. Playing good defense and not letting balls go by, and getting outs without letting the other team score is how you win a game easier, but you have to hit to score your team points. Softball is a fun sport, and is fairly easy to learn if you have good coaches. I love softball and my great coaches got me to where i am today. Softball is my sport, my game, and my

The pitchers would be able to throw much faster than before, most if not all would reach over one hundred mph. The only down fall of that would be the pitchers wouldn't have as much movement as before with the pitchers mound being farther back. With the fact that throwing over 100 mph and being this close since softball mounds are closer than baseball, no one would even be able to react to how fast some pitchers would be able to throw the ball. It’s just that their fields are way too different to be the…

Many people who don't know much about the sport think that softball is the easier version of baseball, but softball is much more fast paced and has less time to react to the ball. Softball is also a great way to build social connections and community. Every team I have been on has had a very tight knit connection and that is something that I think is the standard for most softball teams. My experience with softball has been one of the most impactful and adventurous experiences I have ever had. I owe everything I have to this game and I could not be more thankful for the opportunities I have gotten because of it.…

Although when it comes to stealing bases in baseball the runner is allowed to steal whenever the ball is live (which is most of the time). In softball you are only allowed to steal once the pitcher releases the ball out of their hand, but the runner is not allowed to leave the base if the pitcher has the ball in the pitching circle. Another major difference between baseball and softball is the how the ball is thrown to the batter. In softball the ball is pitched underhanded and can be fast as it is in fast-pitch softball or slow like in slow-pitch softball. In baseball the ball is usually pitched overhanded in really fast…

While growing up, sports have always been a big part of my life. At the age of only six years old, my parents first signed me up for coach pitch softball. Little did they know that I was going to fall in love with the game and that they were going to have to spend countless hours at softball fields during the spring each year watching me play. Being so young when I first started playing, winning and losing did not matter at all. As long as I got to throw, hit, and catch the ball, I was happy.…
