"Give me Liberty or give death" (Patrick Henry). These famous words from Patrick Henry helped change the mind of people on the idea of going to war with England. He helped people realize if you want to be independent from England we need to go to war.The American Revolution was a political change that occurred from 1765 to 1783 which colonist living in the Thirteen American Colonies refused and rejected the British government’s control over them, which lead to a war between the Colonist and England which the colonist came out as the victors and overthrew the British government and established the United States of America. Not only did the American Revolution create a new nation but it had multiple effects on the people living in the colonies, …show more content…
To accomplish this they first wrote up the Articles of Confederation. The thoughts that made up the Articles of Confederation ended up transforming the founder’s vision of a working government into nightmare. The central government had no power to tax and when you can’t tax you can’t collect money to pay off debt America owed after the war. Also there was no understanding of an executive branch the United States didn’t have a main figure head of a leader under the Articles of Confederation. Numerous of thoughts were proposed during the writing of constitution but none were as important as the checks and balances. Basically what the checks and balances did was made sure that no branch had more power over the other two branches. This kept the branches in order and if one branch was doing something unconstitutional they have the power to prove it unconstitutional. Also the constitution created a two house legislature, the “Senate” is based on statehood which gave every state two senators and “The House of Representatives” representation is based on population.
