Overanalyzing In My Leadership

As stated previously, I analyze every aspect of my life. The constant analyzing can lead to overanalyzing. Overanalyzing can cause delays, additional work, and additional costs. I have dealt with the issue of not following through with commitments for many years. This is not due to me not caring but rather making too many commitments and not being able to follow through on all of them. I will commit to many projects at work, my own projects, and helping others; then I become overwhelmed and unable to complete all my commitments in a timely manner. This issue has led to me not being able to help coworkers on projects I had agreed to help them complete. Although, I do have weaknesses in my leadership I have begun to take steps in order to become …show more content…
To make difficult decisions, I will seek the assistance of other leaders or peers. The assistance and advice from others will help me to make a difficult decision and know it truly is for the best of the organization. One of the reasons I have trouble making decisions which may hurt others is because I do not like being the person hurting others. The advice from others will help me not feel like the decision was solely my decision which will make the decision easier. To help me stop over analyzing situations and decisions I have begun to set deadlines on decisions. Once a deadline is reached I must finish my analysis and decide; once the decision is made I cannot analyze the situation anymore, unless a problem arises. By doing this, I will be able to save time and resources while deciding. Finally, in order to follow through with commitments, I have started to use a process of prioritizing and tracking projects. I have begun tracking all projects I am working on and prioritizing them based on importance and deadlines. By tracking my projects, I can know where I stand on projects and how many projects I am working on or helping others complete. This information will allow me to identify if I can take on more projects or if I must ask for help with projects. By tracking my projects, I will also lessen the risk of becoming overwhelmed. By implementing these practices, I will be able to lessen the impact of my weaknesses and become a stronger
