Fray Bernardino de Sahagún was a Franciscan missionary priest, who helped in the Catholic evangelization of New Spain. He was born in Sahagun in 1499 and studied Aztec culture, history and belief for 50 years. He earned the title as “the first anthropologist” for his work documenting indigenous world view. Religion: Due to the Spanish converting most Aztecs to Christianity, 82.7% of Mexico’s population is Roman Catholic. Aztecs, believed in many gods and goddesses. Rather than churches, the Aztecs had temples where human sacrifices were held. In June, 2017, a temple that looks like a coiled snake was recently discovered in Mexico city under what used to be a hotel. It is believed this was built in honor of the Aztec god Ehecatl, a wind god. Archaeologists found 32 neck vertebrae that are believed to have come from ritual sacrifices.
Revolution Day is a national holiday for a revolt that lasted 10 years. The revolt started on November 20th 1910 to get rid of their president Porfirio Diaz. Everyone in mexico gets the third monday of November off with celebrations and parades all over
