My professional goal is to one day open my own business, which would be a hair and nail salon. The topic I am choosing to write about is the decisions that must be made to design the salon and the beginning information needed for a business plan. There are three different options that a person can choose from. A person can open a franchise hair salon, using someone elses' established name, which would give you an instant reputation, and it's resources, such as marketing. A person can buy an established salon from someone who is retiring from the business, has tired the business, or has damaged the business and forced it into bankruptcy. A third option is for a person to establish their own salon using their own money, their own ingenuity, …show more content…
To begin with, you must consider your hours of operation so you can accommodate the maximum number of clients during the business day. Salons are usually open seven days a week from 10 am To 9 pm With shortened hours on Sundays and holidays. Another very important part of the salon development plan is the appropriate pricing of your services. When setting prices, you must take three things into consideration; labor and supplies, overhead, and profit. The main thing that will influence business in your salon will be economics. You will need to consider and research tour target market economic base carefully. You will also need a well researched and thought out marketing plan, for example, how much you will advertise and where you will advertise. Choosing a location for your salon will be one of the most important decisions to make in the early stages of establishing you new business. A facility that once served as a beauty salon may be a very good investment. A lot of the infrastructure that will need may already be on site and available for you to …show more content…
Of course, there will be many more steps that need to be taken, but these are just a few of the beginning steps.
