Larger varieties of fruits and vegetables can help better school lunches because the more available the more likely students are to eat them. “Studies show that introduction of schools salad bars increases the amount and variety of fruits and vegetables consumed by children in schools” (Harris 295). Schools that provide salad bars have a larger selection of healthy food choices which would increase the intake of fruits and vegetables.“Increasing fruit and vegetable intake is important for good health and may decrease risk for many chronic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some cancers” (Harris 294).
