Defining empirical referents is the last step of concept analysis. This is the method to measure or defining the attributes of the concept. This step answer the question of, how concept can be measured or what are the application of this concept? Empirical referents are closely related to the defining attributes and are connected to the theoretical foundation of the concept. The empirical referents of spiritual care are, (1) Patient to be assisted in developing their personal spiritual coping strategies.…

In the Observational Documentary, “Growing up Trans”, we are able to peer into the lives of transgender children, observing their everyday struggles as they live a life once considered an unadulterated taboo. This Documentary explores the different ways gender identity can affect the course of a child’s life as well as their quality of adolescence. From a young age, people are trained by society, ie, socialized to become participants in the gender to which they were assigned. This gender assignment and socialization based on sex, more often than not results in the systematic acceptance of gender norms( the conformance of gender identity and expression of an individual). Girls are customarily taught to be more feminine and end up spending more…
Along with these elementary operants, there are also more complex verbal behaviors. These complex behaviors include tact extensions and generalization, automatic reinforcement and private events. For Joey, it is hypothesized that the problem behavior of swearing is due to a private event that is occurring because of frustration and misunderstanding of what is being expected from him. Initial Assessment Joey has been referred to the Oak City Applied Behavior Analysis Center to focus on these behaviors. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) has begun working on Joey’s case.…
A geriatric social worker develops a very lengthy scale to assess the degree of staff sensitivity to the needs of residents in nursing homes. This scale is designed to be completed by both staff and residents. According to Rubin & Babbie (2016), this scale may be vulnerable to common sources of systematic and random error. As discussed by Rubin & Babbie (2016), sources of systematic error in measurement scales originate from biases during data collection in which a pattern emerges indicating a consistent inaccurate portrayal of the concept being measured. A bias response distorts the measurement with answers based on the respondent’s personal opinion or beliefs.…

Regardless the judgement escalates and has the gun clerk assume the worse, that Farhad is a terrorist, causing him to kick him out the store. In this scene another attribution bias present is the fundamental attribution error. Fundamental attribution error is an emphasis on internal characteristics to explain an individual’s behavior instead of taking into consideration external factors. Farhad speaks his native language because the English language is too difficult for him. The gun clerk assumes he speaks this language because he is trying to hide something, possibly that he may be a terrorist.…
It was a late summer afternoon in Laredo, Texas. Lamar, Ally, and I were preparing for one of our frequent sleepovers. We have had many of the sleepovers before. Each time, we tried to stay up even later. It is tradition for Lamar’s mom to take us all to Blockbusters and get a few of our favorite movies.…
Observational Learning There are a few different types of ways of learning. Some types of learning may require reinforcement, but observational learning also referred to as social learning has no evident prior reinforcement (Feldman, 2013). Observational learning involves observing someone else’s behavior and learning from or mimicking the persons or models behavior in short, it is learning through modeling (Feldman, 2013). Observational behavior is a social phenomenon, looked at by psychologists Albert Bandura as a social cognitive approach to learning (Feldman, 2013).…
Introduction The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my past life experiences through the information that I have learned in this course. I have chosen to focus on multiple meaningful experiences in my life. Some experiences from my past may not appear to be bright and sunny; however my ophthalmologist assured me that all of my rods and cones were in good working order. “Ha-ha” Everything that I have gone through has made me the consciously aware woman that I am today. I’m still a work in progress.…
Behavior and anxiety problems in children are a normal course of the developmental process, however at times these problems become functionally impairing. Statistics have shown that conduct problems (Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder) account for roughly 40% of physician referrals for mental health treatment (Mash & Barkley 2014). Research has shown that if these children are not treated at an early age, they are at a greater risk for more aggressive behaviors, peer rejection, school dropout and drug and alcohol use. (Cooley et al. 2014). Children with anxiety disorders are often at a target for rejection and are at risk for many different psychiatric disorders in adolescence (Mash & Barkley 2014).…
