The moment that I began my college journey, I felt lost with no sense of direction in what I wanted to become. The possibility of becoming a nurse has transitioned from being just a choice on a list of potential occupations, to my top priority that I have been working towards for the past two years. I come from a family of dedicated, ambitious individuals who started their lives in the Philippines and have continued it here in America for an assured future for their children. I want to be able to follow in their footsteps by achieving my goals in order to carry on their legacy. A majority of my family members work in the medical field, including my mother, so I have been familiar with the health care setting at a young age.

From working at a daycare, I have gained a better sense of adaptability, taking charge of difficult and unexpected situations, and enduring long days of working with different types of people. Although I am open to constructive criticism, I tend to take it to heart because I have a passion for what I do and I want to excel in every aspect. My desire to perform to the best of my ability causes me to overthink situations and problems which at times make me take longer to complete a task. I have a problem of being easily distracted and have a difficult time focusing which has plagued me since elementary school as my thoughts can easily take me away. In order to fully understand material from class that I may have missed due to dozing off, I have learned to thoroughly review textbooks and note, seek further explanation from classmates, email professors for further clarification, and listen to recordings from
