Suddenly my father was the only one in the family working, while my brother and I were both full-time university students. With the fear of not being able to financially back my education, I eventually got the job at the daycare and I had to learn how to manage my time between having a job and school which I had difficulty doing. Driving almost an hour to school in the morning followed by driving all the way back for work in the afternoon proved to be challenging. I began to gain a negative mindset which I have since worked through to reach a healthier mental state in order to motivate myself for the challenging road that lies ahead once I reach nursing school. I may have had a rough couple of months, but I refuse to continue to feel sorry for myself and allow my weaknesses to consume me while the hard work that I have put into my academics goes to waste along with my nursing …show more content…
I focus on maintaining a positive attitude, friendly personality, and ability to listen and be receptive. From working at a daycare, I have gained a better sense of adaptability, taking charge of difficult and unexpected situations, and enduring long days of working with different types of people. Although I am open to constructive criticism, I tend to take it to heart because I have a passion for what I do and I want to excel in every aspect. My desire to perform to the best of my ability causes me to overthink situations and problems which at times make me take longer to complete a task. I have a problem of being easily distracted and have a difficult time focusing which has plagued me since elementary school as my thoughts can easily take me away. In order to fully understand material from class that I may have missed due to dozing off, I have learned to thoroughly review textbooks and note, seek further explanation from classmates, email professors for further clarification, and listen to recordings from
