So China’s government has tried to find a substitute to replace the fossil energy. Solar power, wind power and hydro energy seem like a good choice. At the beginning, the government give a great expectation of these clean energy‘s development. However, with the further researching of clean energy, they found that the development of clean energy is limited by many conditions, such as climatic conditions and geographical location. “Counting hydropower (197GW), biomass power (3.2GW), and grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies (0.4GW), there was a total of 226 GW of renewable power capacity at the end of 2009, or approximately 30% of China’s total”(Eric), which means the generating capacity of clean energy is lower than that for fossil energy. What’s more, hydro energy is not as good as people usually think. The construction of hydropower project is changing natural environment artificially, and it will caused a great destruction to the surrounding ecological environment system and historical …show more content…
In western countries, nuclear power as an important energy, research in twenty-first century has not been interrupted, and has made great achievements. According to public information, we know that the energy of nuclear power generation comes from the fission energy released by the uranium fuels in a nuclear reactor. In order to achieve the polymerization of light nuclei, there must be a large amount of deuterium and tritium. Fortunately, there exist a large number of uranium fuels on the earth and the sea water contains abundant deuterium. The energy produced by nuclear fusion is enough for human to use in hundreds or even millions years. But fear and uncertainty spread among the people after the Chernobyl disaster and the Fukushima crisis. Actually, “Coal, with its emissions of sulphur, mercury and soot, will continue to kill far more people per kilowatt hour that nuclear does”(The Economist). Everything has a basket of risks, people should learn to rational analysis, instead of overshadowed by emotion. More importantly, China can learn the outstanding technology from other countries and draw lessons from those terrible accidents. With the improvement of technology and safety measures, the possibility of nuclear accidents can be dropped to a minimum extent. In other words, the nuclear energy can be exploited and utilized
