With being involved in the medical field at work, especially working with individuals with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, each individually having different behaviors some of which require a great understanding of patience and need of redirection. One kind of life-alienating communication is the use of moralistic judgments that imply wrongness or badness on the part of people who don’t act in harmony with other values (Rosenberg 15). With consideration that everyone is raised differently and could consider somethings wrong and correct different than others, it is thought that when I say “you’re absolutely bonkers” my family will perceive it as a joke, but others could consider it an enormous insult. Students were able to recall the terms and their definition and were able to remember the way those words were introduced to them. I began explaining to students that they would be introduced to two new words from a new story we would begin reading the following day.…

At times upbringing has a lot to do with the way someone receives a message. Although I don’t always follow the strict instructions given to me by my mother ”if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it all” (Rogers) I don’t think that our ability to be opinionated affects the way we communicate. The purpose of communication is to effectively get points and ideas across to an audience. I was always taught to say what I had to say and never skimp when it came to the truth because the way you feel matters despite what anyone says. Rogers says that the exchange of feelings is a major barrier yet communication would be nothing without it.…

By going through the exercises, I have reconfirmed that the form of online communication best suited to me is email versus social media such as Facebook, or texting. As an example, I routinely forget my cell…

Adapting activities and environment: Empowering people through autonomy, which means giving people freedom to make their own decision, is important as people should have control of their own lives so they don’t feel as if someone else is controlling their life for them e.g. making their own decisions in the activity. The individual may face barriers in the activity due to their lack of ability for example they might be in a wheel chair which means they need more space to move around so the furniture would need to rearranged or if they have language…

What we say can stick in the minds of others and impact them in ways we cannot foresee. Whether those comments are positive or negative, they show who you are as a person and what can become of you. Like many of our parents’ and those older in age have taught us, “If you do not have anything nice to say do not say anything at all.” When Toni Morrison said "Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence.
