The core value of Hard Work is addressed and displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Night by Elie Wiesel, and Stand and Deliver Tom Musca . These texts show that humanity must protect the value of hard work. Hard work is defined as working with a great deal of effort and endurance, it could also be said that it also includes consistently working hard.This value is important because without hard work you can never really reach your full potential, and if we all were to consistently work hard we as a whole could solve some of the largest problems that plagued humans.
Hard work is seen very clearly throughout the book Night by Elie Wiesel. One example is when they are being held in these camps and the SS soldiers make them go outside and begin to march. After a very short time the SS decide that they need to run because the frontline is getting closer. “ We were not longer marching, we were running”( Wiesel 85). During this ordeal the people grew very tired but they couldn't stop, because the SS would shoot them, at one point the main character grows very tired and begins to dream about how quickly his pain could be …show more content…
All three of the books that was mentioned above all demonstrate people of all walks of life demonstrating hard work. In Night you see it throughout the entire book when the SS soldiers wanted them to do anything it required hard work because their very life depended upon their success. In To Kill a Mockingbird Atticus demonstrate hard work by putting his own safety at risk by sitting outside of the jail and refusing to allow anything to happen to Tom Robinson. In Stand and Deliver Mr. Escalante and the students displayed hard work. Mr. Escalante showed it by his willingness to help these students and put the extra effort to help them. The students worked very hard to pass their regular math but also AP Calculus
