There was no water there anymore which I thought was unusual so I went to go through the forest and followed the trail to look for some water when I suddenly heard something. So I stopped and went off the trail to go see what it is. I heard things behind me and things in front, and on the sides of me. I ran back to the trail but I have walked so far I couldn’t find it. I kept running and running and by the time I stopped I saw my house. When I went in everything was different even the pond was filled. My parents were acting weirder than usual. I went upstairs and I saw someone standing in front of my room. I rubbed my eyes and it was gone. I was calm and forgot that everything was there. Sometimes the ghost come at night but it is mostly day time. I went to bed and had a good night sleep. The next day I woke up and went to go cook some breakfast. Something fell and it was glass. I went upstairs to get a broom to sweep it up. After sweeping it up I went to watch T.v. I forgot all about the breakfast and it caught on fire without me knowing. I didn’t smell anything because my nose was clogged from getting sick. My breakfast exploded into pieces and all the pieces were on fire. There were little baby fires everywhere and my house went into flames. I finally heard something explode and I looked behind me. I had to escape somehow from the fire so I broke the window with a chair I had in my living room. I climbed out of the window and cut myself. I went to the neighbors and nobody was home in their houses. One person left their house unlocked so I went inside and I called the fire department. I was scared and all of my childhood memories and everything else that was important to me was in my house. It all burned by the time I was

I walked through blurring snow and glistening flakes that were swirling around me up the hill to the old barn door in order to find shelter in the blizzard. I pushed open the door just enough to get through and entered the barn. There were fresh hay bales all over and I sat down on one and looked around examining my surroundings. I did a quick scan and nothing caught my attention at first, however, I scanned again and I saw what appeared to be an old antique chest in the far left corner of the barn. I walked over to it and saw what appeared to be a old lock on it that was hanging open.…

Ever since my first backpacking trip 6 years ago, I’ve had an affinity for the Appalachian Trail. I’m constantly looking for excuses to mash our lives into the giant, 50 liter bags, and hit the trail for a few days. This past year, in early fall, I convinced my parents to don their sturdy boots and disappear into the wilds of bear state park with me for three days. We were dropped off at the top of Bear Mountain and, while my parents argued over directions, I wandered around the windswept ridge.…

When I was very little, walking up the trail with a pack on my back and the dog at my side, I would reach out and pull leaves from the bushes and trees. I would tear off corners, smooth the edges, and they would be turned into spaceships, flying across a lush alien world. Sometimes the trail, worn down into the ground over time by paws and hooves, would climb its way up onto the crests of ridges and meander across the moist, mossy fringes of muskegs. The rough, black and gnarled spruce branches that grew there were pirate spacecraft, pursued by the sleek birch branches from beyond the muskeg's soggy borders. As imaginary lasers and rockets exploded against the ships' hulls, I would rip off little pieces of bark and let them fall to the forest floor.…

Hi, everyone My nameGavin and I am a fourth year Sociology major Music Industry minor. My favorite city would have to be Boston, this being because I not only have family there, but have also had some amazing vacations to the city that really allowed me to experience it beyond just tourism. Being able to go back so often over the years has formed a memorable impression in my mind when I think of the place where my family comes from, along with the city that I was able to explore so thoroughly as a kid and watch my mom cross the finish line of the Boston Marathon several times. I find it interesting how family ties definitely make a difference in your impression of an area, but more than this are the positive memories I made during my own trips…
