During “Biblical Foods” Jocobovici was attempting to make a biblical dish as accurately as possible. This included using pottery, an olive press, and a reconstructed site along with the help of an expert in biblical foods. The site and items the he used in order to make his authentic biblical dish relates to the introduction of Philistine culture. We discussed that at sites in Hazor olive presses were discovered dating back to 8th century BCE, and how the sarfi was common in the mud brick homes which were both present and used during this episode. Sadly, Jocobovici found it unnecessary to describe to the audience the importance of the cultural and period of the items he was using. Jocobovici failed to mention these details about the sites throughout the show.
