A personality assessment often described as a questionnaire or a standardize measure that is designed to reveal aspects of an individual’s character or psychological makeup. Rider University office of Career services offers four assessments that either focuses on personality or overall interest or sometimes both. Currently there are two major tests and two smaller test that use the same content construction but different method. First is the Myers-Briggs Type Personality Indicator (MBTI), a self-reported questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences in how people observe the world and make decisions. The Strong Interest Inventory Assessment (SII) is used to assess occupational interests, interests in different types of people and environments, and leisure activities. In addition, career services also offers two shorter versions of the major test. The JTT for the MBTI and the PVA for the SII, the two assessments reveal their results right away. The Personal Values Assessment (PVA) is used to assess a person’s individual value, what is most important to them and their motivation. The Myers-Briggs assessment is based on the typological theory coined by Jung. The test is constructed for the normal population, with the underlying assumption that we all have specific preferences, interest, values and motivation. The Myers-Briggs has 16 psychological types that is typically referred to by an abbreviation of four letters, with each initial standing for a preference type. For an instant, the letters ESFP stand for (extraversion (E), sensing (S), feeling (F), perception (P) or INTJ (introversion (I), intuition (N), thinking (T), judgment (J)).
