1. My educational goal consists of acquiring a Bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering. I am preparing to do this by taking High School classes that are providing the basic concepts I need to learn before I take an Engineering course in college. Some examples of classes that have helped me get prepared are Physics by teaching me the basic principles of motion and concepts of energy and force, AP Statistics by giving me rigorous assignments, Intro to Engineering Design that taught me how to utilize AutoCAD to design objects; proudly I have designed a house using AutoCAD. Math can be a challenging subject to learn and that is exactly why I enjoy it, but it can not be the only subject I learn. To begin with AVID gave me a headstart in preparing for college, from learning how to take cornell notes to visiting campuses and doing research on specific universities. AVID has also helped me improve skills I had a great difficulty with such as writing. Writing has always been an enormous stressor for me and always will be, unless I change the way I think about it, in AVID we have done a copious amount of writing and I know that it has helped me realize that I can get better at writing; even doing small writings like daily journal entries has helped me. In AVID we have learned about how to be successful in college and in life, by going over specific traits that successful college students tend to have. I have learned that in college, professors want their students to not only pass their course but to take something from that class by conducting deep and long lasting learning, so you won’t end up forgetting what you learned the next term. Also that students who get more done don’t point fingers, judge themselves or others, but instead they take ownership and create a plan to improve their situation. Knowing this can help guide me through college, in realizing what I should or shouldn’t be doing and how I can be more efficient in my
