For my older adult interview, I chose to interview my aunt Barbara Gudsnuk, or better known as Bobbi. I chose to interview my aunt as I haven’t been able to know her well so I felt this would be a great opportunity. Bobbi was born July 20th, 1936 in Aruba, Dutch West Indies. While Bobbi’s family is from Beatrice, Nebraska they were in Aruba for her father’s job, which was working for Standard Oil of New Jersey. Her family lived in Aruba until the war ended in 1945, Bobbie was 9 when returning to Nebraska and began school in Beatrice at St. Joseph Catholic School. Bobbi is the oldest of four children, she has two brothers, 72 and 65, and a sister (my mother) age 60. Both of her parents have since passed, both living to a great age of 93, Bobbi is now a widow and has two daughters ages 49 and 43. With such a large age difference in the family, she does wish she had been able to watch her little siblings grow up more. Bobbi currently resides in Orono, Maine with her dog Scottie, a black lab. When talking about her past it brought a great sense of happiness. She spoke of playing outside with her dog Spot, playing with paper dolls, playing …show more content…
Bobbi’s family had many traditions growing up a lot of them centered around the holidays. Bobbi today continues many traditions with her own family as well as they have created new ones. Many of the ways that Bobbi has maintained her life as she has continued to value and do the same things she did growing up connect to the continuity theory. Not only have her actions showed this but her mentality has as welled. Bobbi talked highly about how her attitude being the class half full as helped her tremulously throughout her life. Even after going through many hardships in just a few amounts of years, including the loss of both parents, as well as her husband to cancer, she remains a very optimistic and happy
