I think of a hero as someone who faces some of the most adverse conditions in life and somehow keeps their positivity; this describes my mom. To start with, my mom suddenly found herself in the hospital with a brain tumor and a much unexpected diagnosis of cancer. My Michigan Hero Essay If I had to describe how I feel the only way I can is by saying that I feel like a pane of glass that's been shattered and put back together with ductape that doesn't stick, or like I'm drowning in my own depression. One person has always been able to bring me back to a little bit happier state, that person is my 53 year old grandpa who is also a tow truck driver, a semi driver, and a fireman. My grandpa has always been special to me because no matter what I do or how I feel he can manage to put a smile on my face. I remember going to my grandpa's "adopted" parents (Flourence and Neal's) house which also happens to be who he works for when he's driving tow trucks.…

When someone says “hero”, I don’t think of the stereotypical superman hero that is commonly recognized and associated with the word. I think of a normal, average person who goes out of their way to help or save someone in need. I take my parents as an example. They are ordinary people who help me and care for me, even though they don’t have any “superpowers”. They are kind, brave, and honest; three qualities that someone heroic or respected must have to be the way they are.…
