In 1922, Mahatma Gandhi sent a telegram to a fellow freedom fighter that read; “First decisive battle for India’s freedom won. Congratulations”. A little over a decade ago, these iconic words rang out once again in the central hall of the Indian Parliament. As I sat on its hallowed benches, I learnt of a man who embodied impactful stewardship. His selfless dedication and unwavering spirit has made him one of my greatest role models. His name was Baba Kharak Singh and he was my second great-grandfather.
Over the years, I have strived to emulate what he espoused by his actions. As an eleven-year-old, I organized and performed at a neighborhood concert to honor our fallen soldiers in the Kargil War. The accompanying fundraiser helped us raise

Leveraging past experiences, I’d like to make a difference to incoming students with limited global exposure. As an Indian at the University of Illinois, I was intimately aware of the challenges faced by international students to integrate within the student body. I witnessed how students would form silos based on nationality, often at the detriment of collaborative diversity. As an MBAA Cabinet member, I would work towards providing formal and informal support to a diverse set of students across nationalities. Additionally, as an admissions ambassador, I would endeavor to be a point of contact for students during the application process. While researching schools, I noticed a paucity of visual content highlighting the unique aspects of student life at Fuqua. Using my experience with photography and video, I’d take the initiative and work with student organizations and groups to highlight the opportunities available at the school and the community at …show more content…
As a Project Manager at Illinois Business Consulting, the largest student run consulting organization in the United States, I led cross cultural teams on projects with Fortune 500 companies and collaborated on project acquisitions. Conversely, as an entrepreneur in India, I have helped expand our family owned business across sectors. The diverse experiences have helped me become a more vocal leader, and one that has managed teams both inside and outside my own organization. Working through the economic and political uncertainties of a developing country has made me a more decisive leader and amidst ethical dilemmas, I have endeavored to lead with integrity. However, to become a true leader of consequence, I realize that I must affect change on a larger scale. At Fuqua, I believe that I will a get a platform to think big and make a difference. The education, experiences and network will help me grow and challenge myself every step of the way. I would like to exemplify each of the six ‘Team Fuqua Principles’, but given a single choice it would be Impactful

My papa’s Waltz Reading the poem I felt sad for the little boy. Immediately I thought that the boy's father was an alcoholic , who physically beat his son, but as I kept reading and rereading I began to paint a different picture. The boy loved his father and the dancing they did together “I hung on like death” and the boy and his father very much enjoyed doing this together “romped”. The word beat in the poem is not to beat as in hurt, but what I believe is meant to count steps in the waltz.…

The result is new influence on the culture of the organization. Great leaders are willing to challenge the status quo while trusting and empowering their people. Not only do leaders use obstacles to create a positive future, they are willing to set an example of sacrifice for the good of the next generation”. (Banutu-Gomez, M. B. & Banutu-Gomez S. M. “Rest in peace Jacoby Mason” those were the words I remember reading on the day that my world fell apart. When you grow up with someone you never think that they will leave you so soon. For me, I never thought that I would lose my best friend, who has been there ever since Pre-Kindergarten, at the beginning of senior year. We have been through everything; he was one of the very few people that I could lean on when I needed someone. We shared countless memories from exchanging gifts at various times throughout the year, calling each other no matter what time it was, and even taking pictures (the biggest struggle of them all).…

Some people pray at night, and others are lucky enough to find a shooting star. Me however, I don’t see shooting stars where I live, so I make some of my most personal wishes on airplanes. I call it “The Airplane Theory”.…

You may think having to pay for college is bad, but the quality of the education is reflected by the price you pay. Overtime, the cost for state and community college has skyrocketed, but after further examination it is clear that free tuition has more disadvantages than benefits. College should not be free because taxes will spike and colleges will become overcrowded. To begin with, making colleges free may look good on paper, but in reality it is not good for the economy. As stated in Source C, “Free college tuition plans merely shift the costs of education from one group of taxpayers to all taxpayers” (Source C).…

Whether or not college should be free is a tough but important question, which is why I decided to tackle it. Free college would give everyone an equal opportunity at higher education, but would also increase the amount of money people would have to pay in taxes. College costs about 40 percent of a typical family income. Personally, I believe that college should be completely free of cost, for a certain area of people where their annual family income is below a certain amount because of how hard it is for low income families to send their children off to college. While taking a deeper look into the expenses that come with a college education I found out that most private universities average to about $50,000 per year leaving the student in an average debt of $20,000 after graduation.…

When a child or teenager thinks about what they want to do when they “grow up”, they don’t necessarily think about all of the debt they’ll be in because of student loans. Most good paying jobs require some sort of college degree, but what if somebody can’t afford college tuition? College classes can be very expensive and daunting, causing high school graduates to doublethink about whether or not they want to pursue a career in college. “Free college” seems to be the answer; but where will the funding for free college come from? Will more people be willing to attend college if it is “free”?…

A free tuition may sound nice , it has many con’s to one pro. One of the problems with a free college tuition, is that the federal government would have to fund a free college education.
