The murky walls of hallowed granite harbor horrors of untold essence The walls slick with human slime left there since the dawn of time seem only to mock his un-willed presence The ropes of wrath which bind him in mind and body and soul throughout are laced with the young-blood of his kin from those terrors about to begin there is no escape - no possible way out The sewer rats and roaches gnaw hungrily at the blood soaked binds at his throat light fades as upon me darkness falls laughter echoes down marbled halls Suddenly Awake - Cold sweats - crying out ... Light Or Dark

All humanity must one day make a choice.
To embrace the light or to descend into darkness.
Some choose the darkness rather than the light, because it is far easier to destroy the light inside oneself than it is to defeat the darkness all around them. It is also not an easy to see decision.
It is not as if the light is easily distinguished from the darkness It is more a series of seemingly unimportant decisions which determine our

Right to share, wrong to be stingy, right to help others, wrong to be obsessed with oneself
This 'learning phase' ends with the 'transformation phase'.
Once the transformation is completed we immediately are faced with life changing decisions. Light and dark choices.
Do we speed in our vehicles because there aren't any police around? Do we help the person struggling with their packages or pass them by without a second glance? Do we claim the money we earned from working on the neighbors vehicle on our taxes? Do we correct the cashier and return the extra change they mistakenly gave? Do we call 911 and aid the police in determining who is the criminal when we know whom it was? Do we take that first drink when we know we drove ourselves to the bar and have not made arrangements so we won't have to drive home? Do we do what we know in our hearts and minds what is right or Do we take the easy steps towards our

The second phase, which is the most important phase and is when deeper learning occurs, is if the learner still embodies the intent of the training. Evidence of intent can be determined if the leader’s standard work is being utilized, has gone through a couple revisions, the learner can speak to the benefits they have been able to meet due to their leader standard work and most importantly if we observe the existence of problem-solving within their…

Marriage, the couple promises to love until death do they part, and to never leave each other even if it's just in a memory. That is what happens in this poem, the boy will love his father until the end, even when a great bitterness remains in his memory of all of the suffering. Another way in which the son shows his love for the father is when the boy is longing for him by calling him "Papa" and not the "father". This word is usually used, often, referring to fathers. One has a special relationship, a certain kind of love.…

Empowering poetry allows a poet to relate to their audience through universal ideas of death and loss and the consolation brought by childhood memories. Gwen Harwood’s Father and Child and focuses on a recollection of childhood memories that deeply impacted her perspective on mortality and her relationship with her father. The mirroring structure of the Father and Child depicts a complete role reversal between the persona and her father, showing a switch in comforting each other in the face of death. Part two, Nightfall, opens with a general atmosphere of nostalgia, as the persona, not longer a child, reflects on her fathers approaching death. These notions evoke empathy which allows Harwood to connect with her audience by teaching them how…

In Sharon Old’s poem, “The Planned Child” she conveys the theme of the realization of the value of one’s life and the coming of age through the use of symbolism, imagery, and point of view. When the speaker says “I hated the fact that they planned me,” (line 1), this shows us that the speaker finds her conception as an emotionless, meaningless event. In this poem, you will see the speakers attitude changing from hatred, then to doubt, and then to gratitude for her mother having planned her conception. In the first stanza of “The Planned Child” Olds’ makes the speakers point of view of hatred towards her mother for the way she was planned, wishing instead that she had “…been conceived in heat, in haste, by mistake, in love, in sex...…

We pride ourselves in being the country that offers a fair go for all, the country that was built upon egalitarianism, opportunity and the hope of a better life, the country of mateship where multiculturalism and diversity is embraced. These values act as the cornerstones of the Australian identity as we know it, and placed Australia on the map for the rest of the world to see. However the mantra of acceptance does not hold true for all. Whether born in Australia with foreign heritage or recently migrated, some members of society still struggle to feel fully integrated within our community. Robbed of their own identity and the chance to contribute to Australia’s.…

Postmodern Poetry Essay We analyzed the two poems, “One Art” by Elizabeth Bishop and “In Honor of David Anderson Brooks, My Father” by Gwendolyn Brooks. The correlation between these poems is the act of losing someone or something, but how they react to this loss varies. Within the short poem, “One Art,” the speaker seems to be dulled to the point where she/he has no care when it comes to losing anything or anyone and even recommends practicing this act everyday. “In Honor of David Anderson Brooks, My Father” is completely different in the way that the speaker is sad for the loss of her father, but recognizes and celebrates the fact that her father is in a better place.…

Mothers are always going to be caring for their children no matter what they go though. These poems show the morals that the mothers try to pass on to their sons to succeed in life. Both of them are pretty strict and straight forward with their words but try to be kind in a way that their sons would understand what they went through. In the poems, “My Mother” by Robert Mezey and “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughs, there is a direct correlation between the relationship of mother and son, the mother’s ethnicity and personality with the morals they instill on their sons.…

In the book The Bondage Breaker the author begins to break down the root of what holds and keeps people in captivity. Breaking this hold is not only achievable, but needful in order to have a health spiritual life. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. He explains that the reasons for so many roadblocks to spiritual growth, lies in the losing battle to “the darkness”.
