The topic of my article is about miscarriages. The title of the article that I have chosen is “People Have Misconceptions About Miscarriage, And That Can Hurt.” It was published on May 8, 2015 by NPR KQED Public Media (Katherine Hobson) http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/05/08/404913568/people-have-misconceptions-about-miscarriage-and-that-hurts
A miscarriage is the loss of an unborn baby also known as a fetus. A miscarriage can occur before the 20th week that can be quite painful emotionally and physically. A pregnancy loss after 20 weeks is known as stillbirth. Most miscarriages can come about from hormonal problems, infections, maternal health problems, drug and alcohol substances, excessive caffeine, and exposure to radiation.

This article heavy relies on logos, pathos, kairos, and ethos to effectively win over its readers. Logos is used very lightly in this article with only one statistic given throughout the article. In the article the author uses a few examples of women that she has talked to and their stories about their abortion. Throughout the entire paper Kraw only gives one statistic, one out of the women have an abortion in their lifetime, I would question when that survey was taken and who was in charge of the survey. However, the court case of Roe vs Wade is brought up in this article as a reference to try to support her case that women should have a safe choice to…

The miscarriage of Thibodeaux's case would of undeniably turned out much different if all the parties involved in arresting, prosecuting, defending and sentencing this man would of been much more thorough with the details and facts provided to them by the crime. Carelessness is not excusable by people who have the power to have another person's life in their hands. The Police Department who arrested Mr.Thibodeaux, could have considered seeking further information about the case. Possibly looking into a much more suited suspect like Ms.Champagne's relative with prior history of pedophilia and abuse towards women. The judge and jury should have requested much more evidence and detailed descriptions of statements and eyewitness reports.…

Abortion continues to be one of the most controversial issues around today. Many people have a magnitude of vary opinions on the topic. She is able to portray her message that women should have the opportunity to have an abortion if needed through personal experiences, negative diction, facts, and a call to action. Meaghan Winter started off her article by sharing a personal experience a mother had at a healthcare facility.…

Also the woman gynecologist in the article did not perform abortions the first twelve years of her career even though her work allowed her too because she came from a traditional background where it was morally wrong but she then recognized that abortions were a need in parent’s lives. She has many different stories of women who would come in seeking abortions that were unplanned, unwanted, or wanted but lethally-flawed pregnancies. For example, “Approximately one in three women in the U.S. will terminate a pregnancy in their lifetime.” (Parker 2012, p.…

Abortion - a debate where two sides make harsh accusations; that one is anti-choice, and that the other is anti-life. It is an argument that dares to ask what gives something the right to life? The first article I will be exploring is one that supports the pro-choice argument, titled, “The Anti-Abortion Fallacy”. The composer, Peter Singer, argues the belief that anti-abortion laws make women across the globe suffer.…

Due to much political and cultural misinformation, around later-termed abortions, there remains a lot of fear, stigma, and confusion around what they are and who gets them. Regardless of pro-choice or pro-life opinions, the misinformation spread across all media outlets is harmful to everyone. For example, a mother that…

Both articles do a great Job using rhetorics but the article Is Abortion a Human Right? did a better job. The article used logos a lot by giving plenty of facts and information like when Susan states “The British parliament passed a law in 1967, The Abortion Act, which made the procedure legal up to 28 weeks' gestation. But the law did not extend to Northern Ireland, even though it is part of the United Kingdom. Until the decision this week by a Belfast judge, abortion in Northern Ireland was legal only to save the life and health (including the mental health) of the pregnant woman or girl.…

Abortion: Pro-life When does a human become a human? Although this question may seem abstract, theoretical, and irrelevant, an individual’s answer to that question could have life or death consequences. Abortion, a major hot-button topic in our country, hinges on this question. If human life begins at conception, then abortion for any reason is wrong. If, however, a fetus does not become a “human” until after it leaves the womb, then most types of abortion are acceptable, and in some cases, can be advisable.…

Before I conducted my research on the topic of abortion I knew that it was a very debated issue that has been around for many years. I am also aware that abortion contrary to popular beliefs, is pretty common and that many American women have had one. Another thing I know about my topic is that women who go through with an abortion are under many risks. Those risks may cause medical and emotional complications like infection, heavy bleeding, guilt, depression, and eating disorders. My view on this topic and things I believe to be true about abortion are that life begins at conception and that when you go through an abortion you are killing an innocent being.…

According to Minnesota Concerned for life, “At 20 weeks, the fetal brain has the full complement of brain cells present in adulthood, ready and waiting to receive pain signals from the body…” (Unborn babies). In other words, the unborn baby at their 20 weeks of development can actually feel pain more intensely than adults because they are forming them self, so everything they feel can give them pain. At their 20 weeks their level starts to develop. Salt water is one of the methods used to do the abortion.…

The world is full of countless conflicts that sometimes tend to overtake people’s lives. One of these major conflicts is Pro-Life versus Pro-Choice. Pro-Life is a term given to the view that abortion should be illegal and that a baby should never be killed. Pro-Choice is the view that women should be able to do whatever they want to their body and that it is their decision whether or not they want to have an abortion or keep the baby. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of an innocent human being, it can cause emotional distress in many women, and it is morally wrong.…
