There are several different types of mindfulness techniques taught in mindfulness training programs (e.g. meditation, attention awareness exercises, breathing exercises, and body scanning), (Shonin, Van Gordon, & Griffiths, 2014). In the last decade, business settings have developed mindfulness programs to boost productivity, decrease stress, and improve overall well-being of their employees (Chen, 2015). The cultivation of mindfulness has roots in Buddhism, and gained its popularity by “new-age” practices over the years, and is now transformed into non-secular “one-size fits all” work environments (Shonin et al, 2014). Meditation is a state of awareness (Bentley, 2015). It is a method to quiet the mind and gain inner-peace (Viljoen, 2013). The act of meditation can be done in several ways, (e.g. sitting, laying down, walking, eating).
Breath awareness. This type of mindfulness technique is rooted from Buddhism traditions. In Buddhist traditions it is called Anapansati Sutra. It is the simple act of breathing in and breathing out. It is the basis of any meditation program (Burke, 2016).
Body scanning. Body scanning involves focusing on different areas of the body and non-judgmentally noticing heightened areas of stress. It is generally done while laying down and takes a minimum of 30 minutes to complete. The purpose of the body scan is to bring awareness to each part of the body, to see how it is, not to think of it judgmentally (Valentine, 2007).

This is a meditation that helps individuals to decenter their thoughts. Individuals are taught to see their thoughts come as easily as sounds in their daily life. Eating Meditation. An eating meditation helps individuals to cautiously be aware of eating habits. By being aware of eating, weight loss and healthy eating will occur. This exercise is particularly important for employees to understand how important lunch breaks are in a day, and how it can improve their overall well-being (Chozen, 2009).
Visualization. This mindfulness technique is used in bringing to mind an object or scene in order to enhance meditation practices. (Bentley, 2015). Visualization can help individuals reduce spontaneous mind-wandering (Seli et al., 2015) and is fundamental in training individuals to uni-task in their job duties (Sasson,
