Mercury's Observation

Decent Essays
Tonight I decided to go to the astronomy tower to do some observations on planets however, especially on Mercury!

Wow it is very cold tonight and very windy and the moon, wow, it is very bright and definitely a full, clear one! I am looking through the telescope and I spot a very rocky-cratered planet I record and check my observation and this matches with the planet Mercury! I look again through the telescope and I notice how similar Mercury looks against the moon. It is grey and spotty all over and you can see, clearly, the large craters and scattered boulders spotted around the planet. Mercury is round and quite large.

I am starting to get very cold, I wish it was day so the sun could warm me up however the slight glow of the moon brightens

Not only can similarities be found between architectural structures throughout history, but there is also a correspondence between some pyramids and constellations. For example, the three Pyramids of Giza align perfectly with the three stars of Orion’s belt. Other interesting facts about the Pyramids of Giza include the size of the pyramids, the positions of the pyramids, and the weight of the stones. It was determined that the size the Pyramid of Giza corresponds almost perfectly with the brightness of Orion’s belt. Also, the positions of the pyramids align perfectly with the stars in Orion’s belt.…

After watching the "What You Aren't Being Told About Astronomy DVD" I choose to talk about Venus and the Moon. Venus, the hottest planet and scientifically the most similar to earth. Science used to call Venus "The Sister Planet" because it's made about the same stuff earth. The Evolutionary Model tells that Venus was formed by the same natural processes as the earth, at the same times, same place and from same materials. (Psarris, 2017)…

Observations of Callisto's magnetic field may cause scientists to add the large moon to the list of possible worlds with subsurface salty oceans (The Galilean). What is most fascinating is that it only takes Callisto moon seventeen days to orbit its planet, Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system! While, for the moon that is orbiting the Earth, it takes about thirty days. Jupiter is about 11 times the diameter of the earth. I thought that this information was pretty interesting, and weird.…

Jupiter and Saturn are gas planets whereas Uranus and Neptune are ice planets. One of the most talked about bodies is one of the more than 63 orbiting satellites of Jupiter named Europa. This satellite (or moon) is very large and is covered in ice but has a vast ocean underneath the ice. All of these planets and the large moons around Jupitar have also been mapped by satellites that we have sent out. The Oort Cloud is also located here and is 1.6 light years from the Sun and is the source of the Solar System’s long-period comets.…

The Altercation of Apollo One of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s proudest, and most controversial, pieces is the statue of Apollo by Praxiteles. Steven Litt from the Plain Dealer writes that since there is not clear documentation concerning ownership, exportation, and authenticity of Apollo, he should not be displayed in the Cleveland Museum of Art (2). Curator, Michael Bennett, was so blinded by the bronze Apollo that he disregarded any of the moral codes set by the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA), the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD), the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). All of these organizations encourage the exporting of international art because is supplies cultural diversity around the world;…

The agency that was spawned from these motivations was non-other than NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Agency). Many would argue that this bureau was developed in direct correlation to the Soviet’s launch of the world’s first artificial satellite, Sputnik. Advancements in a myriad of other scientific fields ensued as the USSR furthered its quest to put Man into space as well.…
