In Martin Luther King Jr’s speech introduction he captures everyone 's attention by talking about the one thing everyone wants, freedom. Either you are white or black the American promise is freedom and that 's the reason for the hard fight for it. I believe “the promises of democracy” are the words that make this speech to be relative to both sides. The whole Civil Rights Movements was about equality, to have the same rights and privileges as white people. In the era of 1963, the year this speech was given, white people was separated by class in the job force and the poor are suffering greatly and demand the government for unions. The emphasizing on “all” are to be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. His speech is strengthened by appeal to Christians by his preaching ways, and the hardships black folks has endured in life. He as a black man has faced against racial injustice and the unfairness towards liberation. He even went as far as including his children and how as a father he wants to better the future for their sake.
