Marquis de Lafayette was often known by the nickname of "a hero of two worlds". The reason he was commonly referred to that nickname was the fact that he had bravely fought in the Revolutionary War and rebuilt his home country of France following the French Revolution. He soon became in charge of arranging the trade agreements with Thomas Jefferson, the American representative for France. France was coming close to a political disruption, Lafayette recommended that there should be a group of representatives for the three social classes, so he prepared Declaration of the Right of Man and of the Citizen. Since he was named the commander of the Paris National Guard when all of the cruelty started in the country, people counted on him to protect the King’s Family. The new position caused him to start getting attacked by the groups that wanted to gain power, so in 1792 Marquis de Lafayette fled the country but he was soon caught by Austrian men and brought back into the country in 1799. When Napoleon Bonaparte became the emperor and took over France Lafayette decided that he should lay for a while, until he was chosen to be apart of the Chamber of Deputies during the Hundred Days when he constantly disputed for Napoleon Bonaparte to resign after the Waterloo defeat in 1815. When Charles X was dethroned in the July Revolution of 1830 was given the opportunity to rule as the new dictator. Unfortunately, the noble Marquis de Lafayette decided to turn down the offer and let Louis-Phillipe become new dictator of France.
