Whether the battle requires a fight for self-mastery, within every Marine, lies the courage and the will to win. A Marine’s role is to fight for our nation's safety, and they do it with the love and support of their families and the people they're fighting for. …show more content…
He joined the Marines at just 17 years young. In his childhood, he was an all-state football player for Eastside High School. His position was a linebacker. When he was in the Marines, he fought in the Korean War. He was still only 17 years young. The first Purple Heart and Silver Star were awarded after he blew his way into enemy territory with Bangalore Torpedoes allowing his squad to advance. He wasn’t professional, but his record was insane. He was 44-0 with only 4 wins without a knockout! He was quite the guy. My aunt always called him Superman because as a little kid, she thought that he could anything. Even fly! My grandpa was a great man who accomplished everything that he had set for. He was great Marine, a tremendous husband, father, and uncle, and an amazing grandfather. But most of all, he fought to protect our country. And that is what Veterans Day is all about. Celebrating the men and women who risked and still risk their lives everyday for our freedom. I am very proud to be an American. I am also very proud that my grandpa, the men and women in front of me, and many other men and women have fought and still fight for my freedom, and all of our freedom. This day is really important to all of us because we do need to honor the men and the women who fought and continue to fight for us. There were many people who have lost their lives during a war or wherever they were stationed. And I feel safe knowing that there are still people out there that are protecting all of us. Good men and women doing great work. We need their support, just as much as they need ours. And I am proud that we celebrate this day to honor and pay tribute to the people who are still fighting. Sometimes battle scars don’t go away, but the support for our country and it’s veterans will last for a lifetime. God bless America. Thank
