Marie Antoinette was born on November 2, 1775, born into royalty as the princess of Austria. Her original name was Maria Antonia, but her name got changed into a French version in her later life. Her mother was Empress Maria Theresa and her father was Emperor Francis. She also had four brothers and seven sisters who were all Archdukes and Archduchesses. On April 21, 1770, 15 year old Antoinette left her home to move to France. Once she got to France, she had to strip off anything that was Austrian. She couldn’t even keep her dog. There was an official ceremony that happened right after this process that meant that she was handed over to the French. Antoinette tried her best to be brave, but it was very hard to be strong in the situation she was in.
May 16,1770 was the date of her wedding day and Antoinette hadn’t even gotten to look around her new home and her wedding was already starting. It took her three whole hours for Antoinette to get her hair styled and her dress on. Finally, it was time for them to become man and wife.
