What is the type of this play? This play is a Tragedy because of the murders that take place such as Duncan and Banquo and eventually leads to Macbeth's own death.

What was the time period that this play was written? This play was written in 1606.
What is happening in society in 1606 in England and Scotland? A few important events are, King James unites two kingdoms, England and Scotland and the Union Flag is adopted by England.
Things that may be taking place in this play that are relative to this time period are unequal sex. Lady Macbeth is called a madwoman when she asks to be unsexed so she can murder the King herself. Macbeth also wants to be King because King in this time period brought you the most wealth, power and land in this time period explaining why he got more and more evil as time went on. Religion was important in this time period as Shakespeare incorporates versus from the bible in this play.
