The purpose of this study was due to improving dental hygienists environmental stressors and improve occupational health of dental hygienists by the American Dental Hygienists’ association’s (ADHA). The National Dental Hygiene Research Agenda states that occupational health and safety introduced the magnification of loupes so that it could reduce stressors and decrease errors in the work environment. The study showed that magnification loupes enhanced treatment and improved ergonomics during patient care by using this device. The magnification loupes were designed primarily to enhance the visual acuity of practitioners. Furthermore, magnification loupes have the potential to enhance client treatment and therapeutic outcomes, as well as enhance the musculoskeletal health of oral care clinician. As a result, 303 total surveys were electronically mailed that consisted of students and faculty 251 responders for 2 year programs, and 52 responders for 4 year programs. Of those, 236 were returned for an overall response rate of 75%. Seventy-three percent of respondents were from 2 year programs and 27.9% were from 4 year programs. This study was not repeated. Also, with this type of survey, this would be considered a descriptive of a larger population rather than a smaller one. Also, the variables that were held constant were the types of participants. In conclusion, the results from this study suggest dental hygiene programs require loupes for students more often than faculty, because the students are the ones spend more time working in the patient’s oral
