Belle Beth Cooper, discusses the amend of someone's mindset after listening to music they love, in her article, “The Surprising Science Behind What Music Does to Our Brain”. Cooper writes, “ ...after hearing a short piece of music, participants were more likely to interpret a neutral expression as happy or sad to match the tone of the music that they heard…” In other words, Cooper asserts that by just simply listening to a song, it can shift your whole mood. Listening to music you love can provoke the four major lobes in your brain, which are the auditory cortex, responsible for sound frequencies, the cerebrum responsible for memory, cerebellum responsible for reflex and muscle movement, and the limbic systems that reacts emotionally when we listen to music.With all four lobes in action we are aroused and our mood changes. When listening to a high tempo song it can precipitate memories of amusement that have occurred in the past, making you more happy. On the other hand, a slower song may bring up more of a sad memory, therefore, making you feel sad. Music is one of the most powerful implement that was ever brought to civilization. All throughout history music has always been engraved to us. It has the ability to change an entire culture.
