1. Explain the controversial question and explain why it is controversial. The question of whether or not marijuana should become legal should be viewed as an ethical dilemma due to the number of questions, issues, pros and cons that arise when thinking about whether or not marijuana should become legalized. This question influences society as a whole due to the large controversy and arguments that arise for the legalization of marijuana and against the legalization of marijuana. The question of whether or not we should legalize marijuana is a dilemma that must be analyzed because marijuana has always been illegal and is considered a drug and still is for most states, until recently. We need to study this issue because as of right now it is illegal in all states but Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Colorado. The article also states that 40% of Americans have already admitted to using marijuana. Marijuana is used to alleviate a lot of medical aliments and it is important to have available, legally, for many people. According to a discovery health article, marijuana has been extremely successful in relieving nausea, which is awesome news for cancer patients suffering. (HUFFINGTON POST) Finally, marijuana prohibition is a government failure that forces marijuana in a black market contributing to drug trafficking and violence. A legal marijuana market will allow control and garnet tax revenue.
