According to Project Home, the national rate of homelessness in the United States is held at 549,928 citizens, and 194,716 of those people were families. This is similar to the French Revolution because if people were under the second estate, also known as the bourgeoisie, who controlled the third estate, they were treated terribly. The third estate made up of 98% of the entire population, and 9 out of 10 of those people were poor. More times than not, food was too expensive for peasants to afford, making it hard to take care of their family, and just to get by, peasants would work for someone, for somewhere to stay and food to eat instead of working for money. Both of these people, American today and in the French Revolution, had to work just enough to keep themselves and their family alive. The way they were different was because of the way the people around them helped. American today has given shelters to the homeless for a place to stay and according to USICH, there has been development of coordinated entry systems, which links families and individuals to the appropriate assistance they need to prevent homelessness, this being areas of housing, employment, education, health care and benefits.
