Although most people do not have kleptomania because of genetics it can be passed down from a first blood relative if they had it or if they had obsessive-compulsive disorder. You can also have a chemical imbalance in your central nervous system you could have a low level of sterion which regulates moods and emotions. Most people feel a pleasurable feeling when they steal when the brain feels pleasure it releases dopamine people can get very addicted to that feeling so they continue to steal. A trauma to your head at a young age can also be caused say you fall damage the left side of your brain which is responsible for logic reasoning or you damage your prefrontal cortex which is also responsible for logic reasoning. Without those parts of your brain, you may not be able to reason why stealing could lead to negative consequences.
