To understand the influence media has on the progress and development of professional sports within ethnic minorities, be it race, religion or even cultural background, one must first understand the concept of racism and the classification of genetic traits.
Racism has been prevalent throughout the ages and is not restricted to just colour. Humans have differentiated each other primarily by the perception they have of different ideas and faces that they are not “used” to. Definition of race changes with different parts of the world.
