In the year 1962 the Commonwealth Electoral Act was passed which provided all the Indigenous people the right to enrol and vote for the federal elections. During the year 1967 a referendum was called by the government in response to the increasing pressure created by the Aboriginal activists groups. Any Research conducted on the Australian population in regard to health always concludes that the highest mortality rates are amongst the Indigenous community.
Most indigenous people throughout the nation has similar health care services as compared to the rest of the population of Australia however, remoteness and poor social attitudes have been primary reasons for the poor health of the indigenous people. Some action which has been taken by preceding government has helped the indigenous community until certain extent however, due to remoteness proper access to health care still remains challenge and an issue amongst the indigenous community,
