Choices today has lean toward sagging pants and clothes that has become too revealing. This leads specifically to the argument that most schools have acted on this issue and only go after the feminine gender. That what they wear is distracting the boys of the schools and send them home for such reason. Someone can argue how it’s the boys fault for looking at girls like a “sex object” and to tell the boys to focus on their education and not what girls are wearing. Although some cases, that is right, there are also cases where you see half the bra or her undergarment and you can’t blame the boys for being distracted by a girl that is showing half her body. (Hassan) With the issue of students having the fear of being laughed at with what they wear, schools uniforms help with the student’s self esteem. Teens go through the pressure that if they don’t have specific clothes, their social life will be at risk. All schools have some type of dress code to have an appropriate environment where students can get their education. Usually they are within reason and is easy to follow. Some common rules that schools give as a dress code is 1. Students must follow the “fingertip rule” where the shorts or skirts must reach the end of the fingertips, 2. Students are not allowed to show bra straps,underwear, cleavage or belly button; 3.Clothing with profanity or any “R” material is prohibited, 4.Leggings should have shorts or a skirt to go along with it. (Debate, Niche) People can argue and say that dress codes are too out of reach and impossible for students to follow and still express their individuality. Even with schools having a mandatory uniform for students to follow, the schools allow you to wear jewelry, hair ties, and other optional accessories to express their individuality in a small way. (Vittana) Also schools offer many of ways you can express creativity that would benefit your school life. Examples are music, art, culinary (specific schools), and many other options that will actually help your GPA if you perform in one of these classes. And the dress code is only effective during school hours, so during afterschool, the child is allowed to wear whatever they want.
