Managing global teams and networks This chapter focuses on teams and why it is important for team to communicate, work together, shared their knowledge, ideas and trust their groups members. Teams are the part of an organization and a good team is the back bone of the successful organization. Team is a group of people who works together to achieve a task or specific project goals. There are different kinds of teams that worked in an organizations. Teams are divided in five categories; “project teams” are teams with the duration of times and usually …show more content…
In order to lead a successful team the managers need to set two characteristic; structural conditions, task and roles, and social process. This process is also known as input-process-output. Input is defining the team’s task, roles, and compositions it is very important to define the task clearly to the groups in order to achieved the goals and get the best result.Choose the team member carefully because team’s members have to work together and responsible for the projects. Process, is define the divergent and convergent. Motivate and communicate with the groups for their progress and problems because conflict cans decrease the performance of the group, but motivation can increase it also. Output defines the team’s outcome, like decision, adoptions, teams learning etc. At the third level teams started to accept the challenges and adopting the changes as they go along with group. It is very important for team member to work with each other either it can be a face to face communication teams or virtual teams who operate outside the organization from the different countries and for them key to communication is phone call, video conferences etc. even though its hart for teams like virtual to communicate easily but by good starting point and setting up the better team form very first stages, can help to make better virtual teams than another. It also discussed the virtual cycles which is divided into three parts; shared knowledge, trust and ongoing communications. Shared knowledge’s it important in team and groups works. if group member don’t shared knowledge then it’s hard for other member to keep up with them and in a team it is important that all groups’ members are on the same page, explain and know each other’s goals and most important all member must agree on it. Each member’s contribution and roles. In team Trust also plays an essential role. Teams trust is very important and if the trust among member is stronger then there are higher performances in the teams, because member trust each other and shared their knowledge and ideas with other members. Trusted teams can make better decision as compared to non-trusted teams.
