Inequality in education refers to the different experiences students go through in their education in comparison to other students. Taking the example of Britain, concern on fairness in school have increased and it can be seen that the aspects of class, race and gender is a determinant on how the British students perform in school and their prosperity levels in later life. Using the functional perspective of sociology we can see how inequality in education has been in the rise on the basis of class, race and gender and its effects on the life of students and the impact it has on pupils/students.

The students, who face these inequalities in education, might have some impediments in the long term. For example in terms of gender the boys are disadvantaged from a tender age and in the long run it affects their success, all the way from joining good schools, achieving marks to higher education institutes and even employment. From this example it can be seen that student who have gone through inequality humiliations due to their gender, race or class are prone to discouragements and eventually became unproductive in the society making the quality of life poor.
Inequality in education has a negative outcome of limiting life chances of the affected students. Those that have been made to perform poorly, those that have developed negative values and attitudes are at a risk of failing to secure the chances that come their way depending with their behaviors, attitudes and values.
