Major League Baseball in New Mexico
Why is Major League Baseball so significant to New Mexico? From the start to where the association is now and the money it brings into the state, are some of the most important parts of New Mexico’s history and in current day. It brings in revenue to the local businesses and it really gives a chance for some pros to come to New Mexico that are big names. Also it provides a chance for some of the high school baseball players in the state get looked at by some professional scouts. “Later this year that Isotopes were dropped by the Los Angeles Dodgers who they had had ties with for over 47 years” (Schoenfeld, 2014). The Isotopes were dropped because the Los Angeles Dodgers Triple-A affiliation as moved to Oklahoma City. “After the socially acceptable period of time the Isotopes were picked up the Colorado Rockies and is now their Triple-A affiliation” ("Dodgers to break ties with Isotopes", 2014, p. 1). Now the Topes are affiliated with a very good team and the Topes are expected to have the same kind of success that they had with the Dodgers, with the Rockies. With this new affiliation not much will change and probably nothing will change at all and this will be found out for sure later on in the future as the 2015 season begins. With this new affiliation New Mexico will bring in new people who are fans of the Rockies and that means new income and maybe more people might be attracted to New Mexico to live …show more content…
