They tend to exaggerate the story so it would be more interesting to the viewers. Now, due to the media, immigration is now a bad aspect in American culture. American believe that illegal immigrants do not pay tax, but that is a false accusation. “A 2016 study by the Institute on Taxation & Economic Policy, a left-leaning research organization, estimated that undocumented immigrants pay $11.64 billion in state and local taxes in 2013, equivalent to about 8 percent of their total income” (Zong and Batalova). From an ethical standpoint, it is almost instinct to feel some type of sympathy toward someone that is struggling. People want to help immigrants figure out a way to weave them into our society. Citizens of the United States have everything they need because they are home; the United States is their homeland. On the contrary, immigrants are from another part of the world, they have their own belief they bring with them to a new country, and especially refugees, they believe that the United States is a welcoming country that tries to help them live. Little do they know, many Americans oppose this idea. In this day and age, The United States is very ethnocentric due to the recent terrorist attacks, and especially, news media. Nashville Tennessee is a very diverse city with the main dominant culture divided into many subcultural social categories. The cultural universe of Nashville is country music and all-American food. Immigration has truly shaped Nashville for the better. Now, Nashville offers a wide variety of foods such as American, Indian, middle eastern, Asian, and Mexican food. Cars have also entered into the Nashville culture with Music City. Music City offers many luxurious supercars such as the Mclaren and the Lamborghini. An example of the car culture shaping Nashville is the 615 Crew. A group of Mexican immigrants that fall in love with the concept of cars hosts many car meets around the Nashville Area. In cool springs, Music City host car meets every first Saturday of the month, this is known as Cars and Coffee. Nashville’s cultural particular is shown by the way they express their universal trait; the people of Nashville take the topic of food and offer multiple options for the same food. It is like taking two of the exact same cars and putting different options in both. One may have leather while the other has cloth, but essentially, they are both the same
