I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai and Christina Lamb is a great piece of non-fiction literature detailing the life of Malala and her struggle for education in Pakistan. Detailing the life of Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, it recounts her early childhood and her influences in the Swat Valley, the rise of the Taliban under Fazlullah, her and her father’s activism, being shot, and her life after the shooting. The book attempts to weave in suitable background information as required by the subjects in each of the chapters, but often falls short in this regard.
It is for this reason that this paper will be providing, in its first section, a brief history of Pakistan, from the oldest Pakistani history, to modern day, as well as a summary of the geo-politics of the region.
