Keri Russell once said “Sometimes it is the smallest decision that can change your life forever.” This quote explains any choice that you make, big or small, could have a larger impact on your life than you ever thought possible.This quote is important because Johnny made a small decision to waltz into a church and it ended up making his life more tragic than he could have possibly imagined. You get to choose how to live your life, but sometimes the smallest decisions can have the biggest impact on not just yours, but other people’s life.
One of the biggest decisions that most affected Ponyboy’s life would be when Johnny vigorously stabbed and assassinated ˈBob at the park, Johnny made this choice because he didn’t favor getting hurt once more, and endure the pain that he received at his previous encounter with these Socs. To add onto the fast spreading anxiety building in Johnny’s head, his friend remained struggling for breath, slowly loosing oxygen, drowning. Because of this smart yet thoughtless decision, Johnny now made Ponyboy and himself wanted fugitives throughout the entire city. As soon as Ponyboy had come to his senses after being held underwater, Johnny explained what happened:“ ‘I killed him’ he said

Johnny was responsible for this decision. He made this choice because he couldn’t just stand there waiting for something else to happen. This choice brought a positive and a negative effect on both of them, the negative affect being Johnny admitted to the hospital,hurt and in critical condition, and the positive being the two young boys got their own article in the newspaper stating that they were “sent straight from heaven.(95)” Ponyboy’s shirt also ignites in flames during all of the commotion and ends up passing out. “Your back was in flames...You just keeled over some smoke from inhalation and a little shock
