How Does Golding Present Fear In Lord Of The Flies

The “Lord of The Flies,” by William Golding has been a novel with a complex plot, diverse characters, and amazing messages. “Lord of The Flies” is a novel about a group of boys who are stranded on an island. During the novel, the boys end up voting to place one boy, (Ralph), as chief. However, later in the plot, another child named Jack starts to form his own tribe. Throughout the novel, the hardest challenge is the boys have to try to survive on the island. In addition, they have to overcome challenges such as the beast, savagery, and political ideologies. One theme I believe is emerging in the text is to be careful how you handle your fear, because you may end up being the cause of your fear.
To start off, throughout the novel the boys have always feared the beast. (Remember, the beast was mentioned in the first couple of chapters.) Over the course of some of the novel, the boys’ fear …show more content…
For example, when Ralph was the universal leader for everyone, the boys were often afraid of the beast attacking them. However, once Jack starts his own tribe, one of the first things Jack does is command part of his tribe to steal fire from Ralph’s tribe. (Basically, Jack has now implemented fear on Ralph’s tribe, which is just like the beast.) “The forest near them burst into uproar. Demoniac figures with face of white and red and green rushed out howling, so that the littluns fled screaming,” page one hundred sixty. (This citation was when Jack and his tribe was invading Ralph’s tribe. The “demoniac” faces were members of Jack’s tribe.)
In conclusion, personally I believe the “Lord of The Flies” is a very enjoyable and fascinating book. The plot keeps the readers hooked, and the characters continue to make the story line even more amazing. On of my favorite parts of the novel is the diverse themes, and I continue to find more themes in the text. I look forward to experiencing more of the novel in the
