King George III of Britain did not take kindly to this and prepared an attack. Paul Revere was aware of such an attack and rode across America in his Midnight Ride to warn colonists all over America that the redcoats were coming and they sure did. The redcoats arrived at America and began to attack the colonists. Many colonists remained loyal to the British rule though the vocal minority rebelled, creating agitation for King George III. A multitude of battles ensued between the colonists and Britain but Britain clearly had the upper hand. Britain was undefeated with a huge armada of ships at their disposal while the colonists were nothing but rebels, that is, nothing but rebels with a little help. The French lent a hand to the colonists, offering soldiers and supplies to help the revolutionary effort in an attempt to also bring down the French rule. With the help of France, the colonists ended the war and emerged victorious and gained their independence. The fight for independence in America was a long journey that spanned several decades.
