Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15 ,1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of 15 he when to Morehouse College where he studied medicine and law. After graduating in 1948 he entered two more colleges finally earning his doctorate. In 1953 he married Coretta Scott and lived in Montgomery, Alabama where he became pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. Two years later he became an important part of the Montgomery bus boycott . In 1957, along with other civil rights activists, he founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. For the rest of his life he worked for equal rights for African Americans. On April 4, 1968 he was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee (www.history.com). Being a great speaker takes a lot of effort, especially to bring people together for a common cause. Different ideas and opinions makes it difficult to bring together as many individuals as Martin Luther King Jr. brought together. One example of him bringing people together is his famous “I have a dream” speech. Martin Luther King Jr. did something that many people have done. Bringing people together for a common cause , more rights. Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”( Ford). This relates to Martin Luther King and his beliefs because he brought people together. Bring the people together and the people stay together and work for the cause they came together for. This quote says that a genuine leader does not search for the agreement of his followers but makes the agreement for his followers. This says that he made a common cause for people to ban together. Also, the cause makes people to stay together because of the cause. This is one way he brought others together to work for peace. Another quote by John Quincy Adams says “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”. This relates to Martin Luther King Jr. because his actions inspired others to stand up for the right thing and be more than they were before the civil rights movement.
