For instance, a speech and debate tournament requires each student to wear a suit both days and look professional because they are representing their team and school. Having a hotel room allows students to be comfortable, clean, and relaxed because they do not have to worry about any duties like they would otherwise, which saves time in getting ready and packing up. Hotels often provide complementary breakfast and other items with the room such as an iron and ironing board which allows students to start the day off right. Having these provided for us allows us to look nice and be full with scrumptious breakfast. At at hotel, students do not have to worry about bugs or animals getting into their personal belongings. Only having between four to five students to a room allows for small group bonding and a relaxed environment. Being in this relaxed environment leads to a clear head and clear thoughts which prepares each of them for his or her upcoming rounds. Generally, hotels provide a professional environment where the more business people go when traveling. There is not much to do at a hotel, however. Normally, it is too cold to go to the swimming pool or the team does not have enough time. This causes a lot of down-time which means that students involve themselves with technology. Most of the time people feel that hotels are are a better option for every event due to cleanliness and convenience of luxuries. Sometimes, though, it is better to “rough it” and go out camping. Overall, I believe that a person should camp as much as possible. Not only does it connect a person with their surroundings, but also people to other people. Yes, hotels are great when the occasion of professionalism and neatness is involved, but there comes an event where camping is essential to being the best a person can be. If a family went out to a campground, there would be more opportunities for bonding, such as kayaking in the lake, swimming, playing beach-volleyball, hiking or biking on a trail, or even gazing at the stars while pointing out constellations. When a family goes to a hotel they can be tempted to gather around a television or to interact around the pool if the hotel has one. Because hotels are so homey and comfortable, people tend to not want to get out of the room and go do activities. All in all, campgrounds present more opportunities to bond and come in tune with nature, while hotels allow for only relaxation with normal everyday
