This internship has helped me grow as a person and gain confidence. My favorite part of my internship was when Cozette and I were working with a client on a new construction job. The client brought in a completed floor plan, and came to select finishes and cabinetry. As we were walking through the floor plan we discussed the layouts of the bathrooms and kitchen.…

This lack of communication, and the lack of hiring that goes with it, has led to problems for both employers and their prospective employees. Internships help students to feel more prepared to go to work in their field of choice, even more so if the internship comes with a salary. There is still some disconnect between how a graduate feels and the reality seen by his potential boss. Students could likely better prepare themselves if they would start working on communicating with others early on in their college career. Dostis, Melanie.…

At the beginning of the semester while at my field placement, I noticed several staff members who appeared burnt out. Since that time, I set a personal goal to aim to lift the spirits of the staff members within the agency. I decorated the bulletin boards around the office giving the staff positive messages to view throughout their day. I also secretly left positive quote cards on their desks in efforts to further build morale around the office. While visiting the offices of the staff members, I have noticed the cards displayed on filing cabinets and taped to desk.…

They asked me that question last week to figure out and to thinks what I want to accomplish. During this week I told them that I want to have experience in the government setting and also to put in practice how to work in the real world because is really different to just know the concept but is also important to put the concept in practice. Furthermore, I want to work in my weakness because that would definitely be going to make me a comfortable person. Anyone who is entering into the workplace is required to be enrolled in a training exercise course to develop their skills on a job. The skills needed are taught or learned through experience hence why, having the opportunity to intern is a privilege; yes, everyone will have not the same experience but it will allow the intern to adapt to their new working environment and gain merely through hands on experience (Sweitzer & King, 2013). The intern’s role varies but inveterately their role in any company is to laisse with supervisor and other interns and staffs to fulfill the required task. During this time, the intern will have the opportunity to work along and with other clients underneath the supervisor’s guidance. As an intern, one my wonder…

I have found that, along with being integrated with graduate recruitment, work experience increases the employability of interns by improving their networking and professional skills, putting them in an advantageous position in the competitive graduate market. However, the value of these benefits depends on the career choice of the individual but overall it should remain beneficial, unless it is unpaid and not followed by a job offer, in which case the benefits are greatly diminished. Despite this, I believe work experience would be beneficial to an individual’s future career based on their improved position in the graduate job market, no matter what career they choose, and increased job satisfaction. Looking into the future, with the number of graduates growing each year, it seems inevitable that the value of work experience will continue to rise relative to that of a degree, indicating that work experience will become increasingly beneficial when competing in the graduate job market. Currently, however, academic programmes are regarded superior due to the lack of research into the effectiveness of internships which diminishes the legitimacy of such programmes.…

In my opinion, the disability community has two significant issues that it is facing. The first, is the lack of policies and laws for insurance companies. Insurance companies are able to deny treatments that doctors see fit for their patients. Many doctors are finding more and more of their time being spent with patients fighting insurances trying to get the patient the treatment they so desperately need, rather than treating the patient. The second issue, is policy makers tend to forget about people with disabilities.…

During the first seven weeks of the internship, there have been many valuable skills learned. There are 3 large and valuable skills that have been learned during this time. The first skill learned is how to take an assessment and create an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan. I have had experience creating comprehensive and individualized treatment plans while in classes but has been a valuable skill to learn to do this based off of a real patient assessment. The second skill learned during the first 7 weeks has been to notice when a treatment plan needs to be adjusted and how to make these adjustments.…
