When students take on sports after classes it gives them less free time and also gives the students an environment that they feel welcomed and appreciated. Athletes get home late from events and practices almost every night. This may cause less study time and in some cases not being able to get homework entirely complete. After all athletes sometimes even miss full days of school for competition. “Athletics succeeded in distracting not just students but entire communities”(Ripley 2013). Even when the athletes are doing good in school some may think that the sport is taking time away from studying and homework.
