Effect on the Client
Ellie entered the session feeling stressed out and frustrated with her current work situation. She was experiencing a negative schema about how she believes that her boss feels about her. She believes that others are getting preferential treatment over her. Ellie rated her stress about this situation as an 8 in the beginning. She appeared open to the idea of exploring the DTR and identifying what she perceives as a problem. I used minimal socratic questioning and could have used more that "what" questions. Once the process recording was underway I became more comfortable. I also learned that I need to be more patient when working with a client. I need to remember it is their session and it should go at their pace not at the speed I think it should go. I feel that I am getting more confident with my skills and found myself using things that have been learned previously.
