The purpose of this assignment is to apply the theory of group dynamics to a real-life group. (My family) .
The family as a primary group
A primary group is usually a small social group of people who share a veryclose and personal, lasting relationships with each other. Example of these groups members are families, good friends, Love relationship .etc.In this sense the focus is on families. ). Family is a group whereby its members strongly influence the behaviour and feelings of one another due to fact that these members spend much of their daily lives interacting with one another, and usually face to face interaction.

What are norms? Rules and instructions given to members of a group, on how they should behave and do things. Crossman ( defines norms as“specific cultural expectations for how to behave in a given situation”.Norms are both formal and informal and every family has them.While norms refer to rules that govern behaviour (Bezuidenhout,2014), norms also defines a family or group. Here are few norms running in family. (1)Chores are divided by the day. If cleaned the house today, tomorrow I rest and it’s my sisters turn to da the chores.
(2) When coming home with a friend, my mother will treat you like a guest at first , then after several times visiting, she makes you feel welcome ,when she offers you a drink or something to eat, she will tell you to make it or get it yourself.
(3) During the week, we have a full prepared dinner, but during the weekend, especially on Saturdays, sometimes Friday, there is no fully prepared dinner, but just quick food. …show more content…

Social interaction is how we act and behave towards people around us during interaction. Exchange
A process whereby behaviour is exchanged in a form of reward for something they did. The reward can be either material or non material. Example in my family, Giving my nephew candy after sending him to the stores as a thank you gift. Cooperation
A process by which members of a group work together to achieve certain goals ,which an individual cannot achieve alone. Team-work. A house divided cannot stand. In my family we all part take in task, chores etc. to achieve a successful family event. Competition
